Potassium Regulation
Following a Renal Diet should only be indicated if ordered by your doctor.
Potassium is a mineral mainly found in many foods. Potassium helps your nerves talk to your muscles, including your heart muscle. Too much or too little potassium can cause irregular heart beat or suddenly stop without warning.
All foods contain some potassium. It is important to know serving sizes to be able to determine if a food is low, moderate, or high in potassium.
